Hi, Eileen. I understand there's a concerted effort to build a new public hospital building and Guam Gov. Lou Leon Guerrero would like to establish a new medical complex that includes a new hospital building. Whether that will translate to expanded medical services, that I don't know. The islands historically have been challenged with attracting and retaining medical professionals and specialists. From my perspective, I haven't seen as much energy or focus going into plans or efforts to help with that challenge in that it would guarantee expanded medical services on Guam compared to the efforts to build a new hospital.

Thank you for your posts. Expanding health in the USAPIs is something I am working on with a few members of congress. Despite years of reports and congressional hearings identifying the same issues: workforce shortages, medical supply chain shortages, infrastructure that need’s modernization and accessing specialty medical care, little has been done. As US citizens people of Guam and the Mariana’s deserve a system on par with the US mainland.
