I calculated my carbon footprint and here are my results:
I love to compare myself1 and was kind of surprised by these results? Are these carbon footprint calculators accurate? Who does the calculations? Is there a better one out there? Another one that I tried—yes I tried more than four different carbon footprint calculators—asked me about the exact make and model of my car and I thought they just wanted to just collect personally identifying information. Do I need to report them to the FBI?
Also, none of the calculators asked about my worms, which definitely offsets my carbon footprint right?2
Anyway, maybe I can offset my carbon footprint by picking up some trash? There is one scheduled for April 23....
We know it's a GovGuam payday but before you buy something this weekend, or ever, ask yourself these questions, by Cloth Mom of Guam Ruzelle Almonds, a sustainable queen.3
If you have any of these items, Para Todus Hit has put out a call out to help some folks in Guam who could use them:
Could we soon be testing ourselves for COVID-19? Palau President Surangel Whipps Jr. spoke of a new test developed by a company founded by Taiwan billionaire Tony Guo. I wrote about it for the Pacific Island Times.4 I also found someone's vlog of their trip to Palau via the travel bubble. Although I don't know quite know what's being said, it was interesting to watch.
President Whipps spoke about the high cost of testing at that UOG conference. As The Guardian reports, only a couple of travelers booked a flight to Palau, prompting China Airlines this week to cancel an upcoming trip. From The Guardian: “The fare is higher than normal, plus the cost of two PCR tests, and the inconvenience of health management after returning home are the reasons why most travelers maintain a wait-and-see attitude,” the spokesperson said.
While we all wait and see what happens with the Palau-Taiwan travel bubble, here's something I'd like to see: the Masters of the Currents play. We can't watch this production about Micronesian identity in full, but an 8-minute video is online and it's fantastic. When actor Ova Saopeng walked out with that polo shirt and towel around his neck I thought I saw my dad! Our dads and uncles always have that towel + polo shirt combo! Our moms and aunties do the one-shoulder sling sometimes.5 I love it!
Finally,
A pretty sunset photo. You made it! 6

An actual mental illness
Next week, I intend to introduce my worms. So, be prepared.
Literally. She made my sustainable queens list.
PIT's Publisher is Mar-Vic Cagurangan, who I shadowed my first day as an intern for Marianas Variety-Guam, and the first thing she told me about being a reporter is, and I quote, "This job never ends."
I find myself with a towel over my shoulder in the kitchen when I'm cooking too, these days.
Didn't this week go by quickly?
☺️
If I had those 4 questions to think about back in the day, I wonder what my book and DVD collections would look like today? :)
